Summary:
We are completing our final year with Durham School Services, our outsourced transportation vendor. Our original five-year agreement with Durham started in 2007 and our second five-year agreement began in 2012 for a total of 10 years of partnership. With no remaining renewal options, a new Request for Proposal (RFP) was performed.
We received one (1) response to the RFP from Durham.
Durham provided four (4) term options that are detailed on the attached spreadsheet.
The RFP asked each proposer to provide a 3+1+1 contract option and a 5-year contract option.
On the attached spreadsheet, Options 2 and 4 were offered to provide a decrease in the overall annual cost by allowing for a slight increase in the maximum age of an individual bus. The average age of the fleet remains at eight (8) years for all options.
 
Budgetary Impact:
For the current 2016-17 school year, the total expenditure for Durham School Services is projected to total approximately $6,144,000.  
Recommendation
Action Item – Recommend approval of Durham School Services to provide student transportation services using Option 2 as presented.
