Summary:
Board policy FO provides guidance and provisions for the school board to establish and approve a Student Code of Conduct. This Student Code of Conduct is Crowley ISD’s response to the requirements of Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code.

The Code provides methods and options to manage students in the classroom and on school grounds, prevent and intervene in student discipline problems, and provide the necessary discipline to students as dictated by the Student Code of Conduct. The law requires the district to define misconduct that may—or must—result in a range of specific disciplinary consequences to include removal from a regular classroom or campus, out-of-school suspension, placement in a disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP), or expulsion from school.

A brief presentation of the proposed 2017-18 CISD Student Code of Conduct will be provided. We anticipate revisions to the Student Code of Conduct based on changes to legislative mandates. Possible revisions will be made in accordance to the Texas Association of School Board's (TASB) updated model Student Code of Conduct inclusive of the legislative changes or clarifications required for the 2017-18 school year. TASB's 2017 Model Student Code of Conduct is expected in mid-July. In the interim, TASB recommends using the 2016 model (the version attached) for reference purposes.

Note: A summary of this exhibit was also provided in the School Board Update dated 6/29/17.
