Summary: In November, information regarding professional development and early release waiver days was presented.

This requires the Board of Trustees to approve professional development waivers as described below pursuant to TEC 25.081 and 25.082(a).
• Staff Development Waiver allows the district to train staff on various educational strategies designed to improve student performance for a maximum of 3 days of instruction.
• Reading/English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and/or Social Studies Staff Development Waiver allows the district to conduct additional training for strategies in the core subject areas aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for a maximum of 2 days of instruction.
• Early Release Waiver allows the district to conduct school for less than seven hours to provide additional training in educational methodologies and/or provide time to meet the needs of students and local communities for up to six days per year.

The district requests approval to apply for these waivers for up to three years allowing for professional development opportunities in areas of need identified by the comprehensive needs assessment.
Budgetary Impact: None. The waivers, if approved, ensure our Average Daily Attendance(ADA) funding is not impacted.
