Summary: The Crowley ISD Board of Trustees selected Dr. Michael D. Farland as Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools at a called meeting on August 10, 2017. Texas law requires Boards to wait 21 days after announcing a lone finalist before offering a candidate a contract.

Dr. McFarland was selected as Lone Finalist after Trustees contracted with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) in May of 2017 to conduct a national search for an outstanding educator and administrator to serve as Superintendent of Schools.

HYA conducted meetings and town hall forums to collect input about qualities and characteristics of the next superintendent. An online survey was also administered to staff, parents, students and community members. This information was used to develop a leadership profile used in state and national promotion of this position.

In July, the Board of Trustees met with HYA to review applicants and identify candidates. Six candidates were interviewed by the Board during the first round of interviews. Three candidates were selected to proceed to a second round of interviews.

The required 21-day waiting period concludes August 31, 2017.
